Clayton is a second generation cleaner with a life time of experience in this industry. His father, Joseph Alymer (Al) Barry owned and operated one of Canada's largest area rug and upholstery cleaning plants. The company was located in Vancouver, British Columbia.
As a youngster, Clayton would hang out at his Dads shop. By age six, he was cleaning the fringes on area rugs. On Saturdays he would accompany his father on estimates and service visits at customers homes.
This early experience with old fashioned service has served him well. Clayton is quick to say, "The best way to build a thriving cleaning and restoration business is to provide unparalleled service".
After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, in the late 1960s, the Barry family owned and operated a prestigious carpet and upholstery cleaning business, serving upscale homes and a clientele that included: Bing Crosby, Shirley Temple Black and other celebrities. Following the early and unexpected passing of Al Barry, the business was sold. Several years later, Clayton established a janitorial and commercial carpet cleaning company.
In the 1980s on-location drying of water-damaged structures was in its infancy. Innovative carpet cleaners were quickly learning how to dry wet homes and buildings. They were earning the approval of insurance companies who were looking for ways to reduce the cost of claims in both time and expense.
Clayton was among this group of restoration pioneers. He carved out a niche in this emerging market by serving apartment building owners and condominium management companies on the Peninsula from Mountain View through San Francisco, and in the East Bay from Oakland through Fremont.
2001 is when Clayton merged his company All Phase Carpet Care with Drake Cleaning. Together they formed ALL PHASE RESTORATION. They eventually incorporated as CLEANAIR IMAGE, INC.
Clayton and Roy Drake bought their first SERVPRO Operating License in 2006. Their first franchise was in Belmont, San Carlos, Redwood Shores and Foster City. In 2008 they added Sn Leandro and 2010 Stockton.
By 2011, Clayton and Roy's franchises have become one of the largest operations in all of SERVPRO.
Today, while Clayton continues to help run the day-to-day operation, his primary focus is marketing, public relations and public speaking including conducting educational workshops and programs for the real estate and insurance industries.

In the late 1980's Roy's uncle and father bought a carpet cleaning machine manufactured by the Host Dry Cleaning Company with the idea of starting a small business. Roy helped in this family enterprise, occasiionally cleaning carpets in homes.
In 1988 Roy began working for a large property management company in Foster City, in their Office Services Department. He was quickly promoted to the Human Resources Dpartment, working on benefits and compensation.
In 1993 he graduated from California State University at Hayward with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. In that same year he left his secure and promissing carreer in Human Resources to start his own business.
Roy had discovered an advertisement in the pages of Entrepreneur Magazine. It was about the Anthony Robbins, "Be Your Own Boss" tape series.
Roy purchased the series, read the manuals and listened to the tapes. He was inspired to start his own carpet cleaning commpany.
On October 1, 1993 Roy launched his new enterprise with a top-of-the line truck-mounted cleaning system. He focused on providing high quality work and attentive customer care. He built a loyal residential cleaning clientel. Next, he expanded into a high-end commercial market specializing in medical/dental offices and day care facilities.
In Febriary of 2001 Roy purchased the small water damge division of All Phase Carpet Care from Clayton Barry. During the purchase process, Roy and Clayton decided to form a partnership. On September 1st, 2001 they converted the "purchase" into a "merger".... All Phase Restoration was born. They soon structured the company into a corporation, Cleanair Image Inc.
The orginal client base was primarily property management companies. Roy and Clayton agreed that the insurance and commercial industries were huge opportunities for growth.
Roy is pleased to say, "After thoughly researching the cleaning and restoration franchise opportunties in the San Francisco Bay Area, we settled on SERVPRO". In April of 2006 Roy and Clayton opened their first SERVPRO franchise on the San Francisco Peninsula. By 2012 their business has grown by ten times the size it was in 2006.
With an obvious sense of pride, Roy reports, "We've gone from four emplyees in 2006 to 35 in 2012. From an 1,800 square foot building to 40,000 feet of office, shop and warehouse space. We plan to continue growing and continue helping people get their damaged properties back to like it never even happened."
